Drunk driving and Cinco de Mayo

Posted by Unknown | Mar 13, 2014 | 0 Comments

This Saturday marks the Mexican Independence Day holiday, Cinco de Mayo. This holiday is celebrated by many, and large amounts of liquor and beer are usually consumed.

Police in several cities throughout the country are urging individuals to secure a safe ride to and from Cinco de Mayo festivities if they plan on drinking alcohol. Drunk driving accidents occur more frequently on the weekends, and this weekend there will be extra patrolmen out in order to prevent these accidents.

DUI checkpoints may be set up as early as Friday, and will be in place throughout the weekend. Standard stationary checkpoints will be implemented, and mobile DUI patrol units will also be utilized in different cities throughout the country.
