Twin Sisters Receive Two Separate DUIs Almost At Same Time

Posted by William Kirk, Partner | Jun 09, 2014 | 0 Comments

There is something to be said about twin siblings. They can usually finish each other's sentences, read each other's emotions, and apparently get arrested for drunk driving within hours of each other.

Early Saturday morning, Connecticut police arrested twin sister Kathleen Murphy for drunk driving after she backed her car into another vehicle that was parked at the parking lot of a Hootie's Good Times Cafe, reports The Courant. Prosecutors charged the woman with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, unsafe driving, driving without proper insurance, and failure to register her vehicle.

Early Sunday morning, Connecticut police arrested the other twin sister Hannah Murphy for drunk driving after she struck a street sign on a highway and allegedly fled the scene of the accident. After police caught up with her, Hannah Murphy was charged with a DUI, fleeing the scene of an accident, and unsafe driving.

The two sisters are scheduled to appear in Superior Court on the same date to hear the formal charges brought against them.

Contact a King County DUI Attorney

Similar to the twin sisters in Connecticut, drivers in Washington should be aware that prosecutors usually charge drunk drivers with several violations in addition to the DUI. As the twin sisters were charged with unsafe driving, failure to carry proper insurance, and other infractions, Washington prosecutors typically will charge DUI defendants with a litany of offenses as well.
