Not many people would mistake Martin Luther King Jr. Way in south Seattle for the Autobahn in Germany. With a city speed limit of 30 mph and urban traffic, most drivers maintain or drive well below the posted speed limit. However, on June 28, an unidentified 26-year-old man was caught driving 80 mph down the normally busy road. A whopping 50 mph over the speed limit, reports My Northwest.
The Seattle police spotted the man speeding and driving erratically. The driver apparently did not have full control of his vehicle and drove onto the sidewalk at some points and even through some hedges. The man then took a sharp turn onto South Othello Street driving right past a police officer's patrol vehicle.
The police officer gave chase of the speeding Mazda MP5. Given the high speeds, the officer lost sight of the driver until he eventually saw that the driver had collided with a parked vehicle. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured during the wild escapade. The driver was taken to a local hospital to check out his erratic behavior. The police arrested him for suspected drunk driving.
