If you're into the modernist cuisine scene in Seattle, you may have heard of chef Maxime Bilet. However, the modernist chef recently made the news for all the wrong reasons. Instead of his food making the headlines, the author and chef is being accused of drunk driving and a hit-and-run following an accident near Madison and Summit, reports Capitol Hill Seattle.
The 32-year-old Bilet is the former director of Nathan Myhrvold's Modernist Cuisine venture and also co-author Myhrvold's six-volume book on modernist cuisine. Currently, Bilet is the proprietor of a dinner series business. On Tuesday night, police say that the chef and entrepreneur drove away from a scene of a collision in Seattle while under the influence of alcohol.
Witnesses called police and reported that Bilet's 2013 Honda CRV struck another car and then drove off. The accident occurred shortly before midnight on Tuesday night and police were able to catch up with Bilet a short time later. The police evaluated Bilet for alcohol impairment and he was taken into custody.
