Nationwide boating fatalities are at their highest

Posted by Unknown | Mar 13, 2014 | 0 Comments

According to a U.S. Coast Guard report, individuals boating under the influence have led to the largest number of boating fatalities in the United States since 1998.

The 2011 report that was issued by the Coast Guard shows that people who are operating boats under the influence of alcohol or drugs are a hazard to themselves, as well as other boaters and passengers in the water. Last year in the United States, 19 percent of all fatal boating accidents involved alcohol.

In the state of Washington, 30 people died between 2007 and 2011 due to people operating boats while under the influence of alcohol. Officers nationwide have plans to enforce BUI laws during the summer months in order to protect individuals while they are enjoying their time on the water.

If you have been charged with boating under the influence, you need experienced representation on your side. Please contact the BUI lawyers of Cowan, Kirk & Gaston Law Firm by calling 866-822-1230 today.
