Washington ranks 'average' on MADD report on fighting drunk drivers

Posted by Unknown | Mar 12, 2014 | 0 Comments

According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Washington has one of the highest DUI fatality rates in the country.  The state has only received 3 of 5 stars in its fight against drunk drivers.

According to MADD's report, “The state needs a better child endangerment law, legalization of sobriety checkpoints and utilization of no-refusal activities to further crack down on drunk driving.”

Washington had 20,000 arrests of 3-time DUI offenders in 2009, and 2,100 5-time offenders.  The state is listed as average in its laws to fight drunk driving.
