26 year-old professional NHL player for the Winnipeg Jets, Dustin Byfuglien, was pulled over on August 31 on suspicion of boating while intoxicated and will face charges by Minnesota law enforcement. Officers pulled Byfuglien over on a residential Minnesota lake where they administered a breath test, which he passed with 0.03 blood alcohol level.
The officer, however, decided he wanted to run further tests and took him into custody for a urine or blood test. Byfuglien refused to be tested, which is considered a crime when lawfully requested by police. He was jailed on probable cause and, if convicted, could make it difficult for him to enter Canada.
