Last week, Tumwater City Councilman Neil McClanahan was arrested for DUI in Olympia. He took two breathalyzer tests, blowing a .263 and a .259, during his booking. He was well over the .08 BAC legal limit.
A hearing is set for early July but no trial date has yet been set. Because this is McClanahan's first DUI charge, he may be eligible for deferred prosecution, dismissing the charges in exchange for an evaluation by a counselor. He would also have to complete a five year or longer treatment program.
McClanahan says that he will continue his mayoral campaign. If you or someone you know has been charged with DUI, contact the Seattle DUI attorneys of Cowan Kirk & Gaston at 866-822-1230.
