Holiday patrols in Seattle catch thousands

Throughout the holiday season, Nov. 25-Jan. 2, the state of Washington increased their patrol to look for drunken drivers leaving from holiday events.

Statewide more than 3,577 suspected drunk drivers were arrested, 876 of them were in King County. The initiative was called the “Drive Hammered, Get Nailed” campaign. More than 25 agencies had extra patrols out through Jan. 2 from a grant that was funded by the Traffic Safety Commission.
