We appreciated your being willingness to be available to him on Christmas Eve and are so sorry to have had to bother you and your wife late that night. Even though I am a lawyer, we, and our son, were unfamiliar with the situation he found himself in that night and want you to know how reassuring it was to us to know you were looking out for him when we, his parents, felt so helpless. You made a bad situation as painless as possible, but didn't take away the lesson that needed to be taught.
