The Washington State Patrol announced that they are stepping up drunk driving patrols starting in the beginning of July. The WSP announces these emphasis patrols and campaigns in advance as their goal is to prevent drunk driving and not rack up as many arrests as possible. For example, the hope is that many drivers will think twice before drinking and driving if they are aware of a DUI emphasis patrol.
