Seattle police department DUI unit investigated

Posted by Unknown | Mar 11, 2014 | 0 Comments

After several allegations were made against the Seattle Police Department's DUI unit for misconduct, investigators from the City Attorney's Office have stepped in to determine if these accusations are true.  Officials from the attorney's office are reviewing documents from several DUI cases to check for misconduct by law enforcement officers.

Many of the allegations stated that officers in the DUI unit would use a rubber stamp to sign and approve driving under the influence arrests for Sgt. David Abe.  In addition, Abe himself is accused of approving arrests over the phone.

The police department has temporarily reassigned some of the officers being looked at and replaced them with officers from other areas in the department.
