Matt Knauss now Certified on Standardized Field Sobriety Tests

Posted by Unknown | Mar 04, 2014 | 0 Comments

Matt Knauss, the newest lawyer at Cowan, Kirk, Gaston recently received his certificate of training on the administration of roadside Standardized Field Sobriety Tests.  Matt's training was conducted in Nashville, Tennesee this past October, 2008, through LaPier & Associates, and consisted of 21 hours of training over a three day period followed by an examination covering all facets of the training.  The training received is identical to that taken by police officers for SFST Ceritification pursuant to the standards set forth by the National Highwas Traffic Administration.  All of the attorneys at Cowan, Kirk, Gaston are certified in the administration of these roadside tests, giving each of them the knowledge and training necessary to effectively question the compentency of police officers.  Oftentimes these roadside tests are the only “objective” evidence of impairment in a DUI case, and for that reason it is critical that these tests be conducted in the manner proscribed by training.
